Self-extinguishing ladders and stairs are generally made from a combination of polymerised profiles pultruded with isophthalic resins, giving properties characterised by pultruded profiles, in the same way as handrails or self-supporting structures.

Ladders and stairs in general, because they provide a way for workers to go up and down, often in less than ideal conditions (e.g. fire escapes), must offer better than average safety parameters and reliability, avoiding possible slips or falls by people or objects.

A factor which must not be ignored is also the safety of the handrail, which must always have the highest mechanical resistance and an excellent base fixing.

Self-extinguishing ladders and stairs must therefore pass a series of tests, including the ability to withstand deformation under heavy loads, as well as flex and torsion resistance, at the same time passing all the tests for anti-slip and self-extinguishing values, in compliance with current regulations.
